Support Group News

Previous ADHD Support Group meetings spent an enjoyable and useful time exploring ways of optimising memory.  These sessions were led by Kassandra Clemens, the Plymouth University specialist study skills tutor.  Most attendees saw big improvements in their ability to remember a list of words and went away with the intention of practising further.  We also had a chat about lack of provisions for people with ADHD in the locality and sorting out a blog for group members’ use.

Joe Allison from Learning Development also came along to one of the sessions to talk to us about the services his team offer.  It was very interesting and he said he learnt a lot from us too, which is great.

If you would like to feedback on how the group has supported you please email

If you would like to come along to our sessions please contact Sally Agobiani to find out the dates for this term.

Diagnosing ADHD

If you want an assessment for ADHD through the NHS you will need to ask your GP to refer you to a psychiatrist.  It may make it easier if you make an appointment to see Sally Agobiani first.  She is a Disability Advisor and she can carry out a free screening to see if you are ‘at risk’ of ADHD.  She can also discuss with you any concerns you have. You can then take the results of the screening to your GP appointment.  An appointment with Sally can be made through the Learning Gateway reception.

There are two private psychiatrists offering ADHD assessments at around £260 for the initial assessment.  You will still need a GP referral however.

The contact details for the private psychiatrists are as follows:
