2012 VIce-Chancellor's Enterprise awards trophy

"We believe that the Enterprise Award should represent the University and its surroundings incorporating modern culture and maritime history. The oak will be sourced locally continuing the traditional use of this material that was originally used for shipbuilding. The layers in the Award give the impression of development up to gaining the Award representing achievement. The design also embodies the essence of the Roland Levinsky Building with the steps that are created.

The oak would be rubbed down with finishing oil to bring out the grain and to compliment the structure's shape and form. The engraving will be laser cut out specific to each category award. The simple lettering complements the geometric shape of the award. The actual oak can be put together by hand using dowel to give the award a more special quality because of the effort put into creating the Award."

The design is being developed into a sculpture on campus to mark the University's 150th anniversary.

"This installation will be larger but still encompass the design style and represent the heritage and tradition of Plymouth."
