Computing and Mathematics

Undergraduate
 
ALL stage 1 Home/EU entrants who firmly accept our conditional or unconditional offer for a Mathematics/Statistics degree before 01 August 2012 will automatically receive a Mathematics and Statistics Entrance Scholarship of £1,000 per grade A* in A-level Mathematics or Further Mathematics. There is NO application form to complete. Please note that the scholarship is paid direct to the student in term one.

All of the PGCE Secondary pathways offered at Plymouth University attract a bursary (please note: this does not include the PGCE (Incorporating the Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector))

*Art and Design, English, Drama, Geography, Music, Biology, Primary and Primary Early Years mainstream post-graduate ITT courses attract £9,000 bursaries for trainees with a first and £5,000 for trainees with a 2:1.

**Physics trainees with a 2:1 or first are able to apply for an Institute of Physics scholarship. The scholarship is worth £20,000. Trainees who hold the scholarship will not also be eligible for the standard Department for Education (DfE) bursary.

Physics trainees who are not awarded the scholarship will continue in 2012/13 to be eligible for the standard £20,000 bursary for those with a first, and £15,000 bursary for those with a 2:1.

Undergraduate
 
ALL stage 1 Home/EU entrants who firmly accept our conditional or unconditional offer for a Electronics/Robotics degree before the 1st of August 2012 will automatically receive an Electronics/Robotics Entrance Scholarship of £500 per grade A in A-level Mathematics and either of Physics or Electronics up to a total of £1,000.  There is NO application form to complete.  Please note that the scholarship is paid direct to the student in term one.
 
Civil Engineering
Undergraduate fieldwork bursary applies for selected courses.

Health and Social Work

The financial support that students are eligible to apply for on health, social work and medicine courses can vary greatly from that of other university level courses. In some cases students have tuition fees paid, receive living costs bursaries, or a combination of the two. As the types of support differ depending on the subject and the level of study, please select the section below relating to the area you are applying, or considering applying for.  
 
Undergraduate
 
NHS funded - Nursing, Acute Care and Allied Health Professions
Includes:

Social Work
Includes:
BA (Hons): Social Work 
 
Subject to eligibility, students on this course receive a bursary. As the course at Plymouth University is subject to variable tuition fees, students receive a slightly higher bursary, although they are responsible for paying their own tuition fees. Details of the current rate of the bursary can be found on the NHS Business Services Authority website.
 
This bursary does not need to be repaid.
 
Eligibility
Assessments on eligibility for funding for these courses are made by the NHS Business Services Authority and not Plymouth University. The Business Services Authority website provides information on the criteria used to decide an applicant’s status for funding; it is strongly recommended that you visit this website prior to submitting an application for a course if you are unsure of your status.
 
Tuition Fees
All students on the BA (Hons) Social Work course must pay standard undergraduate full time taught tuition fees. The current tuition fee can be found by viewing the university's tuition fees list.
 
Some students use the bursary they receive from the NHS Business Services Authority to pay their tuition fees, others decide to take out a tuition fees loan and use the bursary to contribute to living costs. For details on tuition fee loans, visit www.direct.gov.uk/studentfinance.
 
If a tuition fee loan is taken out, it must be repaid on graduation once you are earning a certain amount.
 
Maintenance Loan
Students on this course are able to apply for a student loan to cover living costs if they wish. Details of the process for applying for this can be found at www.direct.gov.uk/studentfinance.

Summary
Students on the BA (Hons) Social Work course are able (subject to eligibility) to apply for a variety of funding, some of which is repayable, some of which is not. It is important that you consider carefully the types of funding which you wish to apply for.

These courses do not attract additional funding, students on these courses need to pay tuition fees and are eligible to apply for a tuition fee loan and a living costs loan. Drake Sports Scholarship
These scholarships are available to students who are competing at a national or international standard in Maritime sports (as set out below). A sports panel will award up to £1,500 to students who compete in:

These scholarships are available to students studying PgDip in Legal Practice (Legal Practice/LPC) and Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL). There are five scholarships available per course, with one reserved for Channel Islands students.

10% discount off LPC fees
These scholarships are available to students studying PgDip in Legal Practice (Legal Practice Course).
