From 2012 new part-time students on a HE course will not have to pay upfront for tuition fees. New students, and most continuing students** who started their course on or after 1 September 2012, can apply for a government loan to cover their part-time tuition fees. Repayments start from April 2016 if you are earning over £21,000 per year. New part-time students cannot get a grant for their living costs.

 

Existing part-time students with a household income of less that £28,066 will continue to be eligible for a fee and course grant instead of a tuition fee loan.

 

** Continuing part-time students who started their course before 1 September 2012, and who have a household income under £25,421 will continue to receive a Fee Grant and a Course Grant instead of a Tuition Fee Loan.
