The Sports Scholarship scheme supports top class students in their chosen sport whilst studying for their degree at Plymouth University.
To be considered for a sport scholarship students must represent their chosen sport at regional, national or international level and need to submit a sports portfolio, a completed application form and written support from their recognised Sport’s Governing Body.
The sports scholarships are renewable each year subject to the student maintaining an appropriate level of performance, whilst on a Plymouth University degree programme.
There are three types of scholarships:
- Gold Award
- Silver Award
- Drake Scholarship Award
The Drake scholarship is specific to marine sports whilst the Gold and Silver Scholarships are for all other sports.
Successful sports scholarship students can benefit from:
- Funding for competition fees
- Travel and subsistence
- Expenses to competitions
- Strength & Training sessions with qualified sports centre staff
- Free use of the Nancy Astor Sports Centre
- Flexible learning and mentoring support
