English language centre

A very warm welcome to the English Language Centre (ELC) at Plymouth University.
 
Our Centre offers a range of courses to help international students operate effectively and confidently in a Higher Education context through the medium of English.
 
The teachers at the ELC have many years of experience working with English language learners in the UK and around the world.
 
We give non-native English speaking students the opportunity to develop their English language skills and study skills so that they can fulfil their potential in their courses of study at Plymouth University.

​The English Language Centre (ELC) supports international students by offering a range of courses. These include the Pre-Sessional Academic English courses and insessional English language support sessions during term-time (free English language workshops, tutorials and online support).

In addition, the ELC runs specific courses for postgraduate research students on a bi-annual basis. Students can also take a credit rated module in English for Academic Purposes and English language as part of the Business Management with Business English programme. Details of these are available through the programme office.
