The BEd Primary (Special Educational Needs) is a new course that will be running from September 2012.

This innovative new course is designed to help you to develop the knowledge and understanding you will need to become an effective teacher of children with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN).

Modules will cover the principles of inclusive practice, the diversity of children’s learning and development and the factors which can shape that, as well as considering the effective teaching and assessment of children with SEN.  We will consider the role of the SEN Coordinator, and the role of the teacher in mainstream and special education settings.

Experience of practical teaching within a range of educational settings, including specialist support units, will enable you to extend your learning about a wide range of special educational needs, through observing and working alongside experienced teachers and teaching assistants.
