'A strong team of staff provides excellent professional support’

Ofsted Initial Teacher Education inspection report, June 2011

Ofsted Outstanding logoAs an activity to be engaged in, mathematics can be fun and challenging, yet it is perceived by many children and adults to be a difficult subject.  We aim to encourage students to learn and teach mathematics with confidence, and to have a positive approach.

Varied school placements allow you to explore the school environment in depth and gain valuable experience. You will have the opportunity to teach abroad and study in London, giving you a breadth of practical experience to set you above the competition.

Academic staff will help you to become professionally aware and critically engaged with the practice of teaching, enabling you to effectively manage the delivery of the Primary Mathematics Curriculum within a school.

‘I have enjoyed the experience of block teaching practices; many other universities only offer placements on a 1 day a week basis. I feel I have learned a great deal more by being in an intensive teaching environment and I also have been able to get to know the children in my classes really well.’
