'Highly-trained university tutors provide inspirational teaching'

Ofsted Initial Teacher Education inspection report, June 2011

The BEd Primary English course has been developed to support students preparing to be English primary specialists. Ofsted Outstanding logoModules cover the study of children's literature, contemporary fiction, modern poetry, non-fiction texts, study of the English language and additional educational needs in English.

This course will equip you with the professional skills you need to be a successful and confident Primary School English teacher. Taught modules will enable you to develop your knowledge and understanding, learning to weave links between theory and practice.

Experiences of practical teaching in schools will enable you to extend your learning through observation and develop your own classroom skills and understanding. Our course leaders have a wealth of experience to bring to the course, helping you to become professionally aware and critically engaged with the practice of teaching.

Levels of responsibility build year on year until you learn how to manage the delivery of the Primary English Curriculum within a school. You will have the opportunity to teach abroad and study in London, giving you a breadth of practical experience to set you above the competition.

'I have just returned from my latest placement in Finland and I had a brilliant time. It was fascinating to study the differences between the two cultures and teaching methods.’ Read more...
