What our students say
Having completed an internship with SANCCOB during an additional industrial placement year, I would highly recommend it to anybody! It was such an amazing experience for me that it changed my entire outlook on life and broadened my knowledge of careers in the animal field. I loved every single moment (even the tired ones), and can honestly say it was the best thing I have ever done in all of my life. Working with sea birds and especially penguins was incredible and beyond all, extremely rewarding and fulfilling work. As an intern on a six-month placement you are able to gain an intense amount of experience and specific skills that will definitely come in handy in your working life within the field. This internship is extremely hands on and therefore provides the quickest and most effective methods of learning for most people.
SANCCOB is a professional business that is recognized worldwide for their methods and work in conserving the African Penguin. Being a part of that is incredible and I can guarantee that if you are like me, you will not want the 6 months to end. They throw you in at the deep end and push you to excel so that you achieve your best and are able to have these specialist skills integrated into you in future working life. I really feel as though I have grown and developed as a person during my time at the centre. I had the chance to work up close and personal with penguins, cormorants, gulls, pelicans, petrels, shearwaters, gannets and many more and can honestly say I would not change one minute of my time there.
