Course summary

Pre-Registration Midwifery provides you with the practical skills, knowledge and professional attitude required to care for pregnant women, support women in giving birth and provide care during and after birth. The course develops, through an innovative approach to learning and extensive clinical experience, an appreciation of the social, political and cultural factors in the provision of maternity care. 

Course funding

  • You may be entitled to a means tested bursary (the amount depends on your current financial circumstances) for the duration of your course through the NHS Business Services Authority if you are a UK national
  • The NHS will meet (in full) your Tuition Fee Contribution on your behalf if you are a UK or EU national.
  • Please note that NHS Student Bursaries have changed the application process for 2013 entry. For further guidance about applying for your 2013/14 bursary and to create and access a Bursary Online Support Account (BOSS) please visit the NHS Business Services Authority website.

​Professional accreditation

On successful completion of the course, you are eligible to apply for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as a 'Registered Midwife'.
