strode college logoStrode College is situated in Street, in central Somerset. It was awarded Learning and Skills Beacon status by the DfES in 2004. The college has run successful higher education courses for some years both independently and with other universities. Our partnership with the University of Plymouth started formally in September 2006. Successful students have progressed on to the third year of an honours degree at the University of Plymouth.
 
Our college campus is modern and thriving, with excellent research and computer facilities. Alongside the college is a theatre with a mixed programme of films and live performances, and an indoor swimming pool. There is an outdoor swimming pool just five minutes’ walk away, with Clarks Village Shopping Centre close by. We have excellent sports facilities and a well-equipped gym. There is a vibrant, modern day nursery and our Student Support Centre can offer help to arrange local accommodation.
 
Our foundation degree courses have been developed with considerable support and advice from a wide range of employers throughout Somerset, ensuring the content is totally relevant and up-to-date. We have a well-developed tutorial system to assist students to achieve their full potential, as well as a range of support services.

Our partners range from large further education colleges with a broad mix of students and courses, to smaller specialist institutions with unique facilities. Academic Partnerships
Plymouth University works in partnership with colleges, schools and other organisations throughout the South West to offer you the opportunity to study in your local area, or to attend specialist courses not widely available nationally. A range of vocational courses from honours degrees, foundation degrees and HND/HNCs to university short courses and continuing professional development awards are provided via Academic Partnerships.

Our courses are designed in close collaboration with employers combining academic study with work-based learning to equip you for a job in your chosen industry.

Foundation degrees are equivalent to the first two years of a full-time undergraduate degree and usually take two years to complete, when studied full-time. Many of our courses are available on a part-time basis which makes them particularly suitable for students with other commitments, such as work or family.

Further study and progression opportunities
Many of our foundation degree graduates take advantage of the progression opportunities and go on to study for a related honours degree at Plymouth University, usually with just one further year of study (please note there is a progression application deadline of 15th January and places may be subject to availability).
