MARITIME BUSINESS AND LOGISTICS: CAREER OPTIONS
Information provided by our Careers & Employability Service.
Kellie, our Careers Adviser for Maritime Business and Logistics, says:
"Transport and logistics is a growing sector that plays a major role in the UK and global economy. Although affected by the economic downturn in 2008/09, this sector is still in a good position. Many organisations offer graduate schemes that as a graduate in Maritime Business and Logistics you will be able to apply for. However, graduate schemes are not the only entry point as the skills you have developed on your course will be applicable to a number of challenging roles such as port manager, logistics manager and supply chain management. Graduates may also find opportunities internationally as there is high demand for graduates in increasingly congested countries who are trying to find solutions to their transport and logistical problems."
Visit the Plymouth University Careers website for more information on any of these areas, or call in to see the Careers & Employability Team in Gateway in the Roland Levinsky Building.

Continually developing your skills whilst you are at University will only make you more employable. There are many types of activities you can get involved with at University which will improve your CV, such as business challenges, volunteering projects and relevant work experience. To demonstrate your motivation and enthusiasm for this sector, engaging with professional organisations and employers will help you when you come to apply for graduate positions. Gaining work experience in this industry is also possible and would be encouraged over vacation time.
