Book on an undergraduate open day

Optional work placement

You can get your career off to a great start by spending a year working professionally as a student engineer. This is referred to as a placement year and is undertaken between years two and three. You might earn around £15,000 pa (or more) and possibly sponsorship through your final year(s) at university. The bottom line is that you will gain valuable experience that will help you find a job when you
graduate. Also, upon successful completion you will gain the Certificate of Industrial or Professional Experience as an addition to
your normal degree award.

Student placements

Many of our graduates say the work placement year, offered on most of our courses, was invaluable in helping them launch their careers.

As well as giving students invaluable 'real world' experience a year in industry can often lead to job offers from the placement company. Some placement companies have even chosen to sponsor students for their final year.
