- Gain the foundations in engineering science, manufacture and materials and mathematics in common with our other BSc Mechanical Engineering courses
- Study the fundamentals of marine craft design
- Study quality and project management
- Opportunities to make use of the University's excellent Diving and Marine Centre
Stage 2
- Study the aero/hydro dynamics of marine craft and naval architecture
- Study manufacturing techniques, engineering science and engineering design
- Use a modern marine navigation simulator suite as part of marine navigation application
Stage 3
- A placement provides valuable paid experience in industry. Support is given to find a suitable position
- You are strongly encouraged to undertake a work placement, although this is optional
- A placement may lead to sponsorship in your final year, a final year project, or opportunities for future employment
Stage 4
- Study the structural design of boats and their systems
- Use advanced software to predict boat performance
- Learn about designing and manufacturing in composite materials
- Benefit from the experience of invited experts on small craft surveying and undertake a major project.
