With an array of management skills at your fingertips, you will be confident and capable of tackling any business challenge.

BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION WITH PLYMOUTH UNIVERSITY

The general aim of this course is to develop an understanding of the inter-relationships between the various business disciplines and examine how constraints in one area affect decision making in other areas. The dynamic nature of the business environment will be covered within this general framework. You will be introduced to a variety of skills during your induction programme and these will be developed throughout your three years on the course. These could include time management, presentation skills, report writing, learning using open learning style methods and information skills, such as how to use the internet effectively. The course consists of lectures, videos, student centred learning materials and a range of group activities. As the course develops, these skills are incorporated into the teaching and assessment strategies of the programme. This course also contains a sustainability dimension, in your final year there is the opportunity to learn about key sustainability issues in operations as well as current sustainability issues in business management.

TAKE PART IN REAL LIFE PROJECTS

As an integral part of your final year studies, you will have the opportunity to take part in real projects, either operational or strategic, as a member of a business team of students (normally four) working to provide a free business consultancy service to businesses, not-for-profit enterprises, charities, schools and colleges in the Plymouth travel-to-work area. Project areas could include market research, financial planning and/or control, human resource management, strategic positioning, and the external business environment. Other relevant business areas may also be considered for projects. Each consultancy team will have a university mentor who will oversee the production of the required consultancy reports. Employers in commercial, manufacturing and service organisations, in both public and private sectors, are constantly seeking graduates with both broad-based academic knowledge in all aspects of business administration and a high level of business skills. This course is designed to balance these essential ingredients, marrying the academic and the vocational, in order to maximise your career and lifetime opportunities.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

GCSE: Maths and English Language grade C plus A level/AS level: 240 points (including a minimum of 140 points from two A levels or a double award). 14-19 Diplomas: accepted – please enquire. Other combinations and non-A level qualifications also considered. If you do not have English as a first language you will be required to achieve an IELTS score of 6.0 overall (with a minimum of 5.5 in listening, reading, speaking and writing)
