Advanced Practice in Healthcare

Programme overview

The Advanced Practice in Healthcare programme is specifically designed for practitioners in health and social care and allied health professions who engage with a broad range of individuals with differing health and social care needs. The programme is designed to both develop and embed knowledge, skill and confidence in practitioners who may already be working in a senior position as well as providing a base for those who are aspiring to advance their career.

The programme has been developed to facilitate the development of knowledge and skills in three specific areas: health assessment/ differential diagnosis/ clinical decision-making, leadership and the adoption/ evaluation of evidence based practice.

Autonomous and multi-professional working allows students from differing professions to work innovatively and learn collaboratively, in keeping with the ethos of cross-sector partnerships in health and social service provision.

This programme is part of the Inter-professional Masters Scheme

What students say

“Undertaking the MSc in Advanced Healthcare Practice has enabled me to grow both personally and professionally. It has given me the opportunity to develop my skills in comprehensive history, taking assessment, and formulating a differential diagnosis which has enhanced my clinical practice and ultimately patient care. Whilst the personal commitment to academic study should not be underestimated the programme has offered me exciting opportunities to work within multi-professional and interagency environments.”
