"I came to Plymouth University to do a Masters in Network Systems Engineering as the final year of my French engineering school. It was a good opportunity to improve my English skills and to discover a new educational system.
The MSc gave me an excellent overview of network technologies, together with the opportunity to try different things during practical sessions in labs. Besides the lectures, I have also spent time working at home or at the library.
As a French student from an engineering school, I had to change how I used to work. The type of reports, the references and the group assignments were especially new for me. It improved my research and presentations skills and gave me more rigour.
The partnership between the MSc programme and Orange gave me the opportunity to do an internship in the France Telecom R&D labs in London. After transferring to MRes, I spent 6 months working on a research project on Quality of Experience and VoIP as the final project for the Master. Without a doubt, I was very lucky to have this experience in a real company, combining the support of the academic world with the needs of the industry.
Since the project has ended last August, I came back to France and I am currently working for Atos Origin Integration, a company specialised in offering telecommunications and networking software solutions. The job was easy to find with the experience I gathered while doing my project with France Telecom, the MRes, and the ability to speak very good English."
