Choose your course

plan your future

Choosing which university or college to go to can be a life-changing decision. Do as much research as possible so that you choose the right course for the right reasons.

You can apply to any course which interests you, but consider the entry requirements first. Some courses require particular qualifications, others require an admissions test.

You can search by subject, institution or geographical region on the UCAS website.  If you want some suggestions on what to study, then we recommend using Course Finder.

Universities also provide prospectuses listing the courses they provide, or online course pages.

Be thorough in your research, and not only look at the course, but the town/city where you will be studying. Choosing the right location is just as vital as choosing the right course.

HOW TO FIND THE PERFECT COURSE

If you are not sure about what course to study, work backwards from the career path you wish to pursue - do you need a specific degree or qualification for a particular career choice?

You can also take the Stamford test on the UCAS website which can help match your interests and abilities to possible higher education subjects.

University websites provide course information, entry requirements, graduate case studies and videos on the institution.

WHAT MAKES PLYMOUTH DIFFERENT

see for yourself

Open days are important for a number of reasons.  Not only does it give you the opportunity to get the feel for the University where you will be studying for two or more years, but allows you to meet other students following the same applicant journey, and ask staff and current students questions relating to the course of your choice.

At Plymouth, we offer two undergraduate open days, one in the summer and one in the autumn.
If you are not able to attend an open day, we offer campus tours on most Wednesday afternoons throughout the year.
